Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park is a 60 bed general acute care hospital located on a 30 acre suburban campus in Montgomery County. The hospital offers a full range of services, including a 24 hour Emergency Department staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians, highly skilled emergency nurses and key specialists on-call. Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park provides the student with an ample opportunity to gain anesthesia skills and experience during their junior year in general, surgery, orthopedic, ENT, bariatrics and a variety of additional specialty procedures.

The anesthesia rotation(s) at Einstein Medical Center provides the student with a general surgical, cardiothoracic and obstetrical anesthesia clinical experience. During the open-heart surgical rotation the student provides direct one-on-one patient care and functions as a member of the open-heart surgery clinical team at Einstein Medical Center. During the clinical rotation in obstetrics, the student provides general and regional anesthesia for cesarean section, postpartum procedures, routine vaginal deliveries, and neonatal resuscitation.

This general anesthesia surgical rotation is available for both junior and senior nurse anesthesia students. A variety of general and subspecialty surgical cases are available for the SRNA in a community based hospital setting. Students work with CRNAs/anesthesiologists and participate in a variety of surgical cases based on their level of experience in the nurse anesthesia program. A wide variety of anesthetic techniques are employed at Jeanes Hospital Department of Anesthesia.

A variety of general and subspecialty cases are available for the SRNA to participate as a member of the anesthesia care team. Students work with CRNAs/anesthesiologists and participate in a wide variety of surgical cases based on their level of experience in the nurse anesthesia educational program.

Both junior and senior nurse anesthesia students participate in a variety of practice settings which include both outpatient and inpatient surgical candidates.

Both junior and senior nurse anesthesia students rotate through the RHMC and obtain a variety of clinical anesthesia experiences and surgical procedures. Junior anesthesia students assimilate entry level skills that gradually progress throughout their first year as they master clinical behavioral learning objectives. Subspecialty clinical rotations are available for junior and senior students which include neurosurgery, vascular surgery, ENT, orthopedics and urology.

This clinical rotation offers the student an intense pediatric anesthesia experience. Student anesthetists will provide pediatric anesthesia to children as young as neonates all the way through adolescence. Students assigned to the St. Christopher’s Hospital clinical rotation enjoy the ability to work as a valuable member of the anesthesia care team and provide care through the entire pediatric anesthesia experience including preanesthesia assessment, perioperative care, and postanesthesia follow-up.

Senior nurse anesthesia students have the opportunity to rotate to St. Mary Medical Center for a variety of general surgical, vascular, thoracic and orthopedic educational experiences. A well rounded clinical experience is provided for students including invasive line insertion coupled with a varied clinical case load and variety of employed anesthetic techniques.
